facilities located in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone of Shanghai Pudong New Area. Intel's total land space is about 150,000 square meters and current building space is 56,000 square meters.

Intel China Lab oversees all Intel Research and Development and product development centers in China. The lab is focused on application research and product development in order to accelerate the adoption of key technologies in China and contribute to the country¡¯s economic success. Fairchild Fairchild Semiconductor Officially Opens Assembly and Test Facility in Suzhou, China
  State-of-the-art facility expands back end manufacturing capabilities while reducing outsourcing costs. Fairchild Semiconductor (NYSE: FCS), one of the largest global suppliers of high performance products that optimize system power in multiple end markets, today officially opened the first phase of its 800,000 square foot assembly and test facility and automated warehouse in Suzhou, China. This facility is a key element of the company¡¯s global strategy to more than double sales in China by 2004, and the new factory will produce products for both the local China market and for export to the rest of Asia, Europe and the Americas.

TSMC TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is located in the Hsin-Chu Science-
 

Based Industrial Park in what is referred to as Taiwan's "Silicon Valley." The company is listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) and on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the trading symbol of TSM.
After obtaining government approval, the company plans to establish a 100-percent wholly-owned subsidiary in Mainland China, for the purpose of building an 8-inch fab in the Songjiang Science Park in Shanghai and to provide foundry services in Mainland China.

SMIC SMIC's headquarters and main wafer manufacturing facilities are located in Shanghai, a
   

key industrial and commercial center in China. In just over three years, SMIC has ramped up three 8-inch fabs in Shanghai, acquired a fourth 8-inch fab in Tianjin, and is building a 12-inch facility in Beijing. Infineon

Infineon has been a player in China since October 1994 (at that time still as Siemens

    Semiconductors). Today the company employs about 800 people in China and to grow its workforce here to more than 3000 in the future. In Shanghai, the company cooperates with SMIC, which enables it to secure production capacities for memory chips without having to invest in its own facilities. In return Infineon licenses its leading 300-mm technology to its Chinese partner. Infineon also recently announced formation of a joint venture for assembly and test of memory chips in Suzhou. In Wuxi, Infineon has a backend production facility for logic products, while the newly founded development center in Xian develops products for the communication segments and the automotive and industrial electronics sector. Infineon also has sales offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
