Welcome to ASP-DAC 2012
It is with the greatest of pleasure that I welcome all of you on behalf of the organizing committee to the 17th Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC). It is being held in Sydney, Australia for the first time. Sydney is estimated to have been first populated 30,000 years ago by indigenous Australians, and the first British settlement was established in 1788, not too far from the current site of the Sydney Convention Centre. Today, Sydney is a vibrant, bustling cosmopolitan city, home to well over 4.5 million people.
Since its foundation in 1995, ASP-DAC has been a forum where ideas have been actively exchanged between researchers, academics, industrial participants and students. The conference has continuously enhanced its reputation as one of the premier colloquiums in which to present novel research work in Design Automation. In addition to the numerous attendees from Asia and Australasia, ASP-DAC regularly attracts significant participation from the Americas and Europe. This year is no exception.
