Welcome to the ASP-DAC 2021

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to invite all the engineers on the LSI design and design automation fields to the 26th Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC 2021).
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, we hold ASPDAC 2021 as fully virtual conference style. We cannot enjoy face to face communication not only at sessions but also at coffee break or banquet etc. However, ASPDAC 2021 is supporting the legacy of ASPDAC, which has been contributing to the fostering of the Electric Design Automation and LSI Design community. On the other hand, we can now provide a new more inclusive experience bringing new opportunities for a wide range of people in the world due to the full virtual conference style. You can now attend to all sessions, all tutorials whenever you like, without time-zone limitations, from any place in the world. And we will support live Q&A for technical sessions and interactive virtual tutorial sessions. We also believe that the busy engineers and researchers who could not attend physical ASPDAC can now attend the virtual ASPDAC 2021.

ASP-DAC is a high-quality and premium conference on Electronic Design Automation (EDA) like other sister conferences such as Design Automation Conference (DAC), Design, Automation & Test in Europe (DATE), International Conference on Computer Aided Design (ICCAD), and Embedded Systems Week (ESWEEK). ASP-DAC started in 1995 and has continuously offered opportunities to learn about the advancements on LSI design and design automation fields, as well as to communicate with each other for researchers and designers around Asia and South Pacific regions.

ASP-DAC 2021 received 327 submissions from all over the world. Based on rigorous and thorough reviews and a full-day virtual meeting by the Technical Program Committee, 111 papers have been accepted and 31 technical sessions have been organized. Eight Special Sessions have also been organized based on invited talks by the Technical Program Committee. All presentation videos can be streamed from January 12th to 29th and live Q&A sessions are scheduled on January 19th, 20th, and 21st.

We have arranged three Keynote sessions to know the future directions of this field. The first keynote address is "Re-Engineering Computing with Neuro-Inspired Learning: Devices, Circuits, and Systems" by Prof. Kaushik Roy of Purdue University, USA. The second one is "Secure and Trustworthy Microfluidic Biochips: Protecting Medical Diagnostics, Bioassay IP, and DNA Forensics" by Prof. Krishnendu Chakrabarty of Duke University, USA. The third keynote address is "The Frontier of Origami Science" by Prof. Jun Mitani of University of Tsukuba, Japan.

The Designers' Forum is a unique program that will share design experiences and solutions of actual product designs of the industry. Presentation videos can be streamed from January 12th to 29th and live Q&A sessions will be held on January 20th and 21st. The topics discussed in this forum include new-principle computer, advanced sensing technology and automotive application, emerging open design platform, and technological utilization in COVID-19 pandemic. The University Design Contest is also an important annual event of ASP-DAC where 16 high-quality designs, all including actual silicon proof, were selected for presentation videos available from January 12th to 29th and live Q&A on January 19th.

Five on-line interactive tutorials have been arranged on January 18th. Each tutorial has a 3 hours on-line presentation and an interactive Q&A with the presenters. Recorded video of all tutorial sessions can be streamed from January 19th to 29th. ASPDAC 2019 proudly provide these fantastic opportunities to all registered audience of ASPDAC 2021without any extra fee, due to the special circumstances of this year’s virtual conference style.

ASP-DAC 2021 offers you an ideal opportunity to touch the recent technologies and the future directions of the LSI design and design automation fields. So please do not miss ASP-DAC 2021 virtual conference. Finally, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to our sponsors and supporters.
