Preparation Guide for University LSI Design Contest

Deadline

The submission deadlines are set based on Singapore Standard Time (SST). SST goes ahead of most other local times. The deadline by local times is as follows:

  • Nov. 11 03:00 @ San Jose
  • Nov. 11 06:00 @ New York
  • Nov. 11 11:00 @ London
  • Nov. 11 10:00 @ Paris, Munich
  • Nov. 11 13:30 @ New Delhi
  • Nov. 11 16:00 @ Beijing, Taipei
  • Nov. 11 17:00 @ Tokyo, Seoul
  • Nov. 11 18:00 @ Sydney

Key Dates:

  • Deadline for submission:
    • regular paper: 5 PM JST (UTC+9) July 10 (Wed.), 2013
Authors should finish initial submission with six page PDF by the original deadline (July 1, 5:00pm JST) and can update the PDF by the new deadline (July 10, 5:00pm JST).
  • Notification of acceptance: Sept. 11 (Wed.), 2013
  • Deadline for final version: 5 PM JST (UTC+9) Nov. 11 (Mon.), 2013

Instructions

In order to submit your paper, please follow the instructions below.

1) Paper preparation

  • Initial manuscripts may include authors' names and their affiliations. Authors' names, their affiliations and the contact person are requested when you submit your paper on the the web page for paper submission.

  • The paper should be 2 pages in length including all figures, tables and references. The technical expositions will be reviewed by specialists but should include an introduction for nonspecialists that describes the problem and achieved results, focusing on the important ideas and their significance.

  • Accepted file format is PDF only. No other formats will be accepted. You must make a pdf file which can be read by Acrobat Reader 5.0. Manuscripts should not include special fonts such as Asian fonts.

  • The paper for initial submission is to be formated like this (LaTex, LaTex2e). You can get the templates of initial sumission for (LaTex), (LaTex2e), and (MSWord).

2) Paper Submission

  • Please submit the manuscript via the paper submission system.

Requirement

  • An author of each selected design should make a short presentation at a special session of ASP-DAC 2014. A digest of each design to be presented will be included in the conference proceedings.

Remarks:

  • It is strongly recommended that measured experimental results and a chip micrograph are included in the original LSI circuit design. If the experimental results and the chip micrograph have not been prepared before the deadline of submission, the authors can send the revised paper including them later.
  • Please do not submit the same paper as a regular paper of the ASP-DAC 2014.
  • It is acceptable to submit a design which was already published. But do not submit the identical paper already submitted to the other conferences. Contents of the paper must be the original one.
  • Any modification in authors' names including the order of the listed authors after submission deadline is not allowed except that TPC approves the modification.

Aims of the Contest:
As a unique feature of ASP-DAC 2014, the University LSI Design Contest will be held. The aim of the Contest is to encourage education and research on VLSI design at universities and other educational organizations. We solicit designs that fit in one or more of the following categories:
(1) Designed, and actually implemented on chips in universities or other educational organizations during the last two years;
(2) Designs that report actual measurements from implementations;
(3) Innovative design prototypes.
Interesting or excellent designs selected will be honored by providing the opportunities for presentation in a special session at the conference. Award(s) will be given to a few numbers of outstanding designs, selected from those presented at the conference.

Areas of Design:
Application areas or types of circuits of the original LSI circuit designs include (but are not limited to):
(1) Analog, RF and Mixed-Signal Circuits, (2) Digital Signal Processing, (3) Microprocessors, (4) Custom ASIC.
Methods or technology used for implementation include:
(a) Full Custom and Cell-Based LSIs, (b) Gate Arrays, (c) FPGA/PLDs.
