Welcome to ASP-DAC 2013

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to invite all of the engineers on the LSI design and design automation areas to the 18-th Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC 2013). ASP-DAC 2013 will be held from January 22nd (Tue.) to January 25th (Fri.), 2013 at Pacifico Yokohama.

ASP-DAC 2013 is a high-quality and premium conference on Electronic Design Automation (EDA) area like other sister conferences such as Design Automation Conference (DAC), Design, Automation & Test in Europe (DATE), and International Conference on Computer Aided Design (ICCAD). ASP-DAC has been started at 1995 and continuously offers the opportunity to know the recent advanced technologies on LSI design and design automation areas, and to communicate each other for researchers and designers around Asia and South Pacific regions.

The conference site is Pacifico Yokohama as usual. Yokohama is an exotic town and is comfortable for attendees from electric industries around the city. Yokohama is very close to Tokyo, and has an easy access from Narita International Airport. Mt. Fuji can be seen from the conference site when sunny, and famous hot springs like Hakone and Atami can be reached easily. Attendees will enjoy the stay in Yokohama.

ASP-DAC 2013 received 311 submissions from 29 countries all over the world. Based on rigorous and thorough reviews and a full-day face-to-face meeting by the Technical Program Committee, 97 papers have been accepted and 25 technical sessions have been organized. 6 Special Sessions have also been organized based on invited talks by the Technical Program Committee.

We have arranged 3 Keynote speakers at the beginning of each day to know the future directions of this area. The first Keynote speaker Dr. Sani Nassif is from IBM, one of leading industries in USA. He has been working hard on EDA area and now is the president elect. of IEEE Council on EDA. He will give a new application of EDA technologies. The second Keynote speaker Dr. Kee Sup Kim is from Samsung, one of major Asian industries in Korea. He has been working on design area and is the steering committee chair of ICCD and had served as the general chair of ICCD 2009. He will give the direction on upcoming technology nodes. The third Keynote speaker Dr. Hiroyuki Watanabe is from Toyota, one of biggest motor companies in the world. He is currently serving as the chairman of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Japan. He will give an insight on the sustainable mobility.

The Designers' Forum is a unique program that will share design experience and solutions of actual product designs of the industries. This year's program includes the invited talks on heterogeneous devices and multidimensional integration design technologies and on photonics for embedded systems, and also includes panel discussions on future direction and trend for embedded GPU and on harmonized hardware-software co-design and co-verification.

The University Design Contest is also an important annual event of ASP-DAC where 21 designs were selected for presentation at Wednesday, January 23, 2013.

Five tutorials have been arranged on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. This year, we have changed the tutorial style: each tutorial has 2 hour presentation, and will be held 2 times. Registrants can take any 3 of 5 tutorials with the reduced tutorial fee depending on their interests and can obtain wider perspective on the recent hot topics on embedded multiprocessor, pulse based design, dependable embedded processor, non-volatile memory, and RF CMOS and MEMS.

ASP-DAC 2013 offers you an ideal opportunity to touch the recent technologies and the future directions on the LSI design and design automation areas. You will be able to meet and discuss with a lot of researchers and designers on this area, so please do not miss ASP-DAC 2013. Finally, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to sponsors and supporters.
